Favor Purses

Hello Divas, your DIY Diva here to bring you some great crafting ideas. This week I would like to show you how to make some lovely, fun, and cute favors shaped like purses. A little clutch and a regular handbag. (I mean who doesn't love a cute clutch, right?!?!?) :p. These little favors came to me when Elegant Evenings planned a Sip-N-Swap Party. The guest loved them and we think they came out perfect. We filled them with a lipstick (for the clutch) and a shoe (for the handbag) shaped cookie (huge shout out to our Cookie Diva: Nikki McDowell) . So let's get to crafting!!!!

Clutch Favor Purse
Supplies: 12x12 scrapbook paper, paper cutter, embellishments, ribbon, glue sticks, and glue gun.
Step 1: measure and cut your paper in 4x6 in. strips. I cut the paper in half first so I had a 6x12 sheet to work with.  One 12x12 sheet should make 6 strips (6 clutches).
Step 2: make your folds. I used the edge of the cutter as a ruler and to make abetter crease in my folds. First fold from the bottom of strip at 2 inches.
Step 3: make a fold from the top of strip at 1 1/2 inches. Fold and crease firmly and you should have the shape of your clutch.
Step 4: add your embellishments with the glue gun.  I used one gem stone in the middle. You can add a ribbon on the side as a little strap. I did one with and one without.
Step 5: fill with favor item of your choice and glue down the flap to hold it all together. Enjoy!!!!!

Regular Purse Favor
Supplies: 12x12 scrapbook paper, paper cutter, glue gun, scissors, glue sticks, and embellishments.
Step 1: measure and cut your paper into 4x7 inch strips. One sheet of 12x12 paper should make 3 strips (3 handbags).
Step 2: measure and fold.  First fold from the bottom of strip at 2 1/2 inches. Then from the top down your second fold should be at 3 1/2 inches and the last fold should be top down at 1 1/2 inches. Fold and crease firmly and this should be your regular handbag.
Step 3: add your embellishments with the glue gun. I used diamond mesh, ribbon, and gem stones. Use your scissors to cut the mesh to the length of purse flap and cut about a 2 inch ribbon piece for the handbag strap. Glue down and add gem stones at ends of ribbon to hide ribbon ends.
Step 4: fill with item of your choice and glue down flap of handbag to hold together. Enjoy!!

These little fashionable favors were a joy to make and they were a great addition to the party. All of my materials came from my favorite place on Earth: Hobby Lobby!!!!! I hope that these fashionable and crafty favors put you in a party giving mood!!!
Please join me next week as we start our Halloween project: Our Little Monster's Turning One Party. Until then stay crafty and remember our quote of the month: given enough glue sticks I could rule the world!!

Quote of the Month: Given Enough Glue Sticks I Could Rule the World

About me & this crafty blog
Hi, my name is Tawanda and I will be your DIY Diva.  Here are a few facts about me:
I love to read as much as I love to craft and I really really really love to craft!! ;P
Pinterest is my favorite social site of all time.  You can follow me : Tawanda Bess
I own an event planning business called ElegantEvenings where we do a lot of diying for our clients and most of my projects will be based on what I am doing for an event. You can friend us on Facebook or check out our website @ Elegant Evenings
And like most women I can’t live without chocolate!!! ;P
Now that being said this craftilicous blog is for the other DIY Divas out there who, like me, love to craft.  If you have an uncontrollable urge to make something out of nothing (many have given me this title so I wear it proudly) ;p this is the site for you.  I craft for my business, but mainly I craft to relieve stress or to express myself or just because I love it so much.  Here’s how it will work:
Y        I will post crafts once or twice a week with detailed and pictured instructions.
Y        I will ask for your critics, questions, comments, and challenges. ;P
Y        I will be showcasing events and the diy projects from Elegant Evenings ever so often.
Y        During the holidays I will be posting every day or so. Example: Christmas will be a 25 crafts in 25 days event.
Y        I invite you to challenge me to make a craft just email me a picture and if available a supply list.
Thanks for reading and let’s get crafty!!!  These projects came from a Sip-N-Swap party that Elegant Evenings hosted.
Project: 1 Jewelry Displays: necklace & Bracelet Displays
Necklace Display
Supplies Needed:
'       Cardboard box (one box should make two displays)

'       Cardstock or Material
'       EmbellishmentsElegant Evenings
'       Thumbtacks
'       Scissors
'       Glue sticks & Glue Gun
Step 1: take the flat box (I used a flat rate priority mail box that someone mailed to me, but they are free at the post office) and cut both sides open so you will have two separate pieces (see picture).
Step 2: take one of the two box pieces to make your display.  Fold one flap over the front and one flap over the back of the sides (see picture).
Step 3: Glue down the flaps with the glue gun. Press firmly and be sure to glue both sides. (See picture)
Step 4: glue on your card stock or material (see picture).  I used cardstock 12x12 scrapbooking paper (one display takes about 2 ½ sheets).  I also glue paper in the top to cover up the cardboard at the top of my display.
Step 5: now for the fun part (at least for me) we add our embellishments (see Picture).  You could use just about anything you would like (ex. Beads, ribbon, buttons, etc.) I used some diamond mesh that I have left over from another Elegant Evenings event.  You can find it at Hobby Lobby (the greatest place on earth and my favorite craft store EVER) ;p
Step 6: Let your embellishments dry.  Now it’s time to put your thumbtack on the back of your display it holds your necklace in place (see picture).
Step 7: Add jewelry and Enjoy!!!!
Bracelet Display
Supplies Needed:
'       Paper towel tube
'       Cardstock or material
'       Embellishments
'       Scissors
'       Small metal stand (I used an old candlestick stand you could also use a small piece of wood or a small bow)
'       Glue sticks & Glue Gun
Step 1: cover the paper towel tube with cardstock or material (see picture) and glue in place with glue gun.  Press together firmly and let dry.  I used a piece of black 6x12 scrapbooking paper.
Step 2: Add your embellishments to each end and again this can be of your choosing, I like a little bling in my displays so again I used diamond mesh. (See picture). Let dry.
Step 3: put hot glue on one end of your tube and press firmly onto your stand and let dry (see picture).
Step 4: Add your beautiful bracelets and Enjoy!!!
Thanks for coming by to craft with me for a while and I hope to see you next week for our favor purses project until then stay crafty and remember our quote of the week: Given enough glue sticks I could rule the world!!! And remember to leave your comments, questions, critics, and challenges!!!
